  1. Large-scale genetic differentiation among the exploratories is caused by the different evolutionary history of beech populations.
  2. Genetic differentiation among plots within exploratories is caused by different environmental conditions and different forest management histories.
  3. Limited seed dispersal of beech results in fine-scale spatial genetic structures within plots depending on the silvicultural treatment of stands and aspects of stand structure such as species mixtures.
